Description:

This new series uses an aesthetic and concerns close to magic realism. An everyday place - the city - is flooded by an awesome event ; a fictional vegetation reclaims its colonized land. This is undoubtedly one of the reasons for the square's symbolic framing. In the next step, the shape took over the object in response to a narrative concern: these images fit together like puzzle pieces to tell a story, to unfold a world. Each photograph is thus conceived as a unique tile, part of a larger whole that might be called a mosaic.

"Look at my roots growing at the gates of your city. Feel how your frantic constructions are just illusions. Learn how we can make our way through together. Feel this chromatic display, these botanical factions. I'll swallow your gray, tasteless world. I'll swallow your whole world. Your tricks and your desires for glory. Breathe this suffocating air and watch how I keep high my colors, showing you the way. Watch how peacefully I will fight and win over your ephemeral fruits of pride. When you have nothing left and want to connect, l'll touch your retina with my rhizomes, and your endless tears will quench my thirst. Then to the edge of a new world, You and I will be together again."  Diane Jacquier
